Dover Castle Shawl

If you happen to find yourself in Calais France on a sunny day go down to the water and catch the Calais-Dover Ferry which will take you across the narrowest part of the English Channel to Dover, England.  Stand on the deck of the Ferry and you will be able to see Dover Castle as you near England.

Dover Castle is a medieval castle that has stood for over 2000 years.  It sits atop the white cliffs of Dover overlooking the seaport city, the ocean and France across the water behind you.  It is surrounded by green fields and trees and was my inspiration for this shawl design.

The Dover Castle Shawl is an easy relaxing knit that becomes very rhythmic.  The stitch pattern is easy to memorize and your knitting will be easy to read.  The shawl requires only one skein of sock yarn but can be expanded to a larger size very easily if you are lucky enough to have more yarn.  It is top down construction beginning at the neck edge with just a few stitches.

This pattern is available for purchase and download on Ravelry.  Here’s the link to the dover-castle-shawl If you are not a member of Ravelry then run, don’t walk to www.ravelry.com and sign up for an account.  It’s totally free and totally awesome and you are missing out big time if you don’t have an account.
