Recently I was given a skein of beautiful blue yarn by yarncandy that I fell in love with. It’s her Silk Merino fingering which is wonderful to work with and lovely to touch. It inspired me to design a shawl and I have spent the past couple of weeks working on the project.
Here are a few pics I took this morning in our lovely spring weather.
The green version is the test knit using Handmaiden Casbah in moss.
The Calais Shawl is a free pattern. Here’s the link Calais Shawl Pattern
VERY pretty pattern! Thanks a lot for making it free. Both colors are just lovely.

Oh, and not only have you designed a beautiful shawl, offering the pattern for free, but you maintain a lovely place to visit as well. Thank you, once again.

I love the shawl. I have one question. I was reading over the pattern and I didn’t see a gauge.( Maybe I over looked it.) What is gauge for this pattern.?
By: kbatten67 on May 16, 2013

The gauge is 20 stitches to 4 inches over stocking stitch, unblocked
The gauge is not critical but may affect yardage required.

Thank you so much. Your pattern will be my first attempt knitting a shawl. This design is beautiful and I’m excited about starting it.
